Wood Competence Center TSENTER has undergone a thorough overhaul, updating its name, visual identity and website.

FittingWoodworking and Furniture Center TSENTER was established in 2012 to focus on adding value to wood and to provide state-of-the-art know-how in order to create the conditions for companies to innovate and become internationally competitive.

Today, TSENTER offers companies services ranging from product development and manufacturing solutions to a wide range of services. Under the two new programmes, a company can develop new products, improve existing ones and also find ways to automate or robotise its production. Among other things, TSENTER will be able to provide training tailored to the company’s needs and make use of a photo studio.

“TSENTER’s main focus has always been to know its network, to map the needs of companies, to be flexible and to be personal,” introduces Jörgen Dobris, TSENTER’s Development Manager.

Starting in September, we will be talking about TSENTER, Wood Competence Center. “Long-time customers have known us as the Wood Competence Center for a long time – it’s a catchy name that people have remembered, and since the visual side was changing, we decided to shorten the name at once,” Dobris adds.

“There was no wood compentence center in Estonia, so in that sense it was easy for us to choose the name. In addition, with the new name change, we create an opportunity for ourselves to ‘think out of the box’ in the future and to expand the scope of our activities,” said Kadri Võsu, Marketing Manager at TSENTER.

Customers have the same expectations of the public sector as they do of the private sector – services must be user-centred and modern. TSENTER also needs to think about upcoming projects.

According to the marketing manager, the existing visual identity and website had served its purpose well, but was in dire need of a refresh. The information that had accumulated on the website over the years needed to be reorganised and the focus of the services provided by the new project re-focused.

The new website is more user-friendly and intuitive, providing a smoother and more pleasant experience for visitors. “We have invested a lot of time and resources to create a website that meets our customers’ expectations and needs,” added Võsu. The website is now mobile-friendly and includes a number of new features that make it easier to find information.

Sharing know-how also plays a major role on the newly designed website. On the know-how page you will find a glossary of wood terminology, a fittings calculator and, in the future, a know-how database.

The wood terminology glossary is based on the study material compiled by Tallinn University of Technology. The glossary contains terms in 5 languages with explanations in Estonian, and has received good feedback from both companies and students, who use it mainly for translating specialised material.

The fittings calculator is a designer’s tool that helps to find the best solution for the assembly of cabinet furniture components, taking into account the design requirements and the technical capabilities of the production. “At the moment, this is a demo version, designed to test for possible glitches and to find the best solution for the future development of the application. We see great potential in this application for use by fitting manufacturers, furniture design engineers and the education sector,” said Ants Tiido, Development Manager at TSENTER.

The know-how database will bring together information on wood and furniture related to wood and wood-based materials processing, furniture manufacturing and industry best practices. “Our aim is to create a tool for entrepreneurs, industry professionals and educators who want to improve their knowledge,” said Võsu. In the future, the database will provide scientific articles, technical guides, training and reading materials to help acquire and improve knowledge and skills in the field.
